Rope Loft
Details
Located in the picturesque town of Chester, Nova Scotia, The Rope Loft is a historic waterfront restaurant and marina offering a unique dining experience with breathtaking views of the harbour. Housed in one of the oldest buildings still in commercial use in Nova Scotia, The Rope Loft combines rich maritime history with exceptional cuisine. The menu features a variety of fresh, local seafood, including renowned light-cream shellfish chowder, lobster, scallops, and mussels, along with vegetarian and gluten-free options to cater to all tastes. Guests can also enjoy local wines, draught beers, and ciders.
The building itself, known as the Old Wharf, was constructed using remnants of the privateer ship Teazer, which tragically sank in Mahone Bay in 1813, giving the restaurant a unique historical charm. The Rope Loft’s cozy atmosphere, excellent service, and beautiful setting make it a must-visit destination for anyone in the area. A customer said: “We loved sitting out on the patio, which extends out over the water. The food and service were top-notch, and the selection of local brews and ales was great. A perfect spot to enjoy a meal while taking in the views!”
