How the Chamber handles information you share through mahonebay.com, our SMS service, and Chamber forms.
The Mahone Bay Tourism & Chamber of Commerce ("the Chamber", "we") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through mahonebay.com, how we use it, and your choices. It also contains the Terms and Conditions for our SMS service (the Mahone Bay Buzz).
Information we collect
- Contact form submissions — name, email, subject, and message you send through the website are forwarded to our team via Netlify Forms.
- SMS opt-in data — when you subscribe to the Mahone Bay Buzz, we collect your name, mobile number, and your express consent to receive text messages from us.
- Analytics — we use a privacy-friendly analytics service that does not use cookies or collect personal data; it reports aggregate page-view metrics only.
- Membership payments — when you join the Chamber, your payment is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
How we use your information
We use the information you give us to respond to your inquiry, to administer your Chamber membership, to send the text messages you've opted in to receive, and to understand which pages of the site are most useful. We do not sell your information to third parties for any purpose.
Mobile information
No mobile information will be shared or sold with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
The only third party that touches your mobile number is our SMS delivery provider, ClickSend, which transmits the messages on our behalf. ClickSend processes the data strictly to deliver our texts and does not use it for their own marketing.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact us at our contact page or email info@mahonebaychamber.com. To stop receiving texts, reply STOP to any message we send.
Cookies
The website itself does not set tracking cookies. Embedded third-party services (e.g., Stripe, the Google Maps directory pin, ClickSend opt-in links) may set their own cookies under their own policies.

By opting in to receive text messages from us, you agree to the following terms.
Program operator
Text messages are sent by the Mahone Bay Tourism & Chamber of Commerce, a not-for-profit organisation based at 165 Edgewater Street, Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, B0J 2E0.
What you'll receive
The Mahone Bay Buzz is a once-weekly text update with Chamber news, member spotlights, business tips, and local happenings. The Chamber may also send occasional time-sensitive notifications related to your subscription.
Message frequency
Message frequency may vary. In a typical week you'll receive one message; occasionally there may be additional messages for time-sensitive updates.
Pricing
Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier may charge you for incoming SMS or MMS messages depending on your plan. The Chamber does not charge you to receive these messages.
How to get help
Reply HELP to any of our messages to receive help, or email us at info@mahonebaychamber.com.
How to opt out
Reply STOP to any of our messages to unsubscribe at any time. You'll receive one final confirmation message, and we won't send anything further. You can re-subscribe at any time at mahonebay.com/chamber/buzz.
