Oak & Fern Home is what happens when good taste and good intentions shack up and open a storefront. Founded by Rebecca Twanow—a town councillor with more civic pride than a bunting parade—and joined by international design whisperer Pieter de Bruin, this little Mahone Bay jewel box is equal parts comfort, charm, and curated restraint. Everything here has a story, but thankfully none of them start with “Live, Laugh, Love.” Pieter’s eye is razor-sharp, Rebecca’s heart is wide open, and together they’ve created a space that feels like slipping into the perfect cashmere sweater—if that sweater came with locally sourced pottery and a sense of community responsibility. It’s not just a shop. It’s a love letter to home, to heritage, and to the possibility that maybe—just maybe—your life could be a little more beautiful with a brass candlestick and a well-made throw. Go. You’ll leave lighter in spirit and heavier in shopping bags. Which is, of course, exactly how it should be.

Oak & Fern is an absolute treasure of a shop! Every visit feels like a little adventure — the shelves are filled with beautiful, unique home goods and hidden gems you won’t find anywhere else. The inventory is always changing, so there’s always something new to discover. Rebecca, the owner, is so warm and welcoming — you can tell she truly loves what she does and curates everything with care. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Mahone Bay, don’t miss this store! It’s one of those special places that makes the town even more charming.
