Marketing the town

Three places your business shows up — already paid for.

Membership in the Chamber doesn't just fund advocacy. It funds the three biggest marketing surfaces in town. Every visitor who arrives in Mahone Bay sees at least one of them.

What we run

Three surfaces, one membership.

The website, the Visitor Information Centre, and the annual printed map work together. Update your listing in one place and it flows through the rest.

  • 70Chamber-member listings
  • 1Annual printed map
  • Year-roundYear-round visibility
Online

mahonebay.com

The town's official site. Built and maintained by the Chamber, written for the visitor who's deciding what to do with their Saturday.

Every Chamber-member business gets a full profile page with photos, a long write-up, hours, contact details, social links, a Google rating where available, and a directions link. Listings are pulled into the Best-Of pages (Eat, Stay, Shop, Experience, Services) and the searchable, filterable directory. We refresh the design, the copy, and the imagery every year so the town reads as current — not like a frozen 2014 WordPress site.

  • A dedicated listing page for every member
  • Auto-syndication to the Best-Of and Directory pages
  • Google-friendly SEO + structured data on every page
  • Sponsor placement on the home page for premier members

The Visitor Information Centre

165 Edgewater Street, right beside the Three Churches. One of the last staffed VICs in Nova Scotia — and an audience that's literally in town to spend money.

Visitors walk in with one question: What should we do? Our local staff knows the answer. They send people to your shop, your restaurant, your inn. Member brochures, business cards, and promotional material live on the front counter; the wall behind the desk doubles as a member showcase. While the Province has closed VICs across Nova Scotia, ours stays open because the Chamber co-funds and operates it year after year.

  • Member brochures and rack cards distributed in person
  • "Where should we eat?" recommendations from real locals
  • Extended hours during the Scarecrow Festival and Father Christmas
  • Festival-season window displays curated with members

The annual printed map

Every summer we print the official Mahone Bay map. Every Chamber-member business is on it. Tens of thousands of copies go into visitor hands.

The map is the single most-handed-out piece of print marketing in town. Inns put one in every welcome packet. The VIC slides one across the desk to every visitor. Restaurants leave a stack by the front door. It's the only Mahone Bay map that lists every member business by category, plotted on the same Main Street walking map, with hours and contact info on the back. Refreshed each spring; in pockets all summer; on fridges all winter.

  • Every Chamber-member business appears on the map
  • Listings grouped by category — Eat, Stay, Shop, Experience, Services
  • Distributed through the VIC, member inns, and the Town
  • One annual print run — refreshed each spring
The whole point

Marketing the town markets your business.

Visitors don't usually arrive looking for one specific business. They arrive looking for Mahone Bay — and then we point them at you. Every visitor who picks up the map, walks into the VIC, or opens mahonebay.com is one we can hand to a member.
